Howdy Team Players! You’re all about using play to bring people together and make connections. So, here’s a play mission to help you build relationships with the people you work with.
Mission Title: The Great Big Quiz-Off
Objective: Use playful quizzing and collective guessing to build team spirit, spark laughter, and help people feel more connected to one another.
Players: 3+ people
Playbox Materials: Pens, post‑it notes, paper, list of questions (Optional: buzzer apps, whiteboards, silly prizes – imaginary or real)
How to play:
- Option 1: The Ridiculous Quiz Show: –
- Devise a list of intentionally ridiculous-but-human questions, for example:
- Who do I think would survive longest in a zombie apocalypse?
- Who do I think secretly enjoys admin?
- Who do I think would absolutely be late to their own TV show?
- For each round there’ll be a Question Boss. They’ll ask the question and determine the answer in secret on a board or piece of paper.
- Everyone else will answer the question by writing down their response on a board or piece of paper, and went prompted, holding it up in the air.
- Points will be given for each answer that matches the Question Boss’ answer.
- The “accused” gets right of reply (or denial).
- When all the questions have been asked, tally-up the points and pick your winner!
- Option 2: Wrong Answers Only
- Devise a list of normal relational questions, e.g.:
- “What is this team best at?”
- “What helps us get through busy weeks?”
- Allocate a Judge for each round, who will ask a question from the list and judge the best/funniest answer and award points for that round.
- Then, everyone must give a purposeful wrong answer to that question – the funnier the better, e.g.:
- Competitive napping
- Pretending emails don’t exist
- When all the questions have been asked, tally-up the points and pick your winner!
- Option 3: Quess Who
- Each person writes down 3 facts about themselves that they don’t think others in the team/quiz will know on individual post-it notes.
- Each quizzer has to guess which facts relate to which of their colleagues.
- For every correct fact matched you’ll get a point (to a maximum of 3 points per colleague). If you get a full set of facts matched to a colleague, you’ll double your points and get a whopping score of 6 for that person.
